Opportunities for Adults
Maple Park’s Sanctuary Choir is for anyone with a heart to sing in ministry to the Lord, ages teen through adult. The choir rehearses Wednesday evenings, 7:00 – 8:00pm (September through May) at the church. Contact Dennis Erickson (Choir Director) if you are interested in being a part of choir.
Adult Discipleship Classes, Life Groups & Life Studies
At Maple Park, we have many opportunities to continue growing in faith both as individuals and as a community.
- Adult Discipleship classes take place Sunday mornings at 9:15, with a larger forum/lecture based class in the Youth Center covering a variety of topics rotating every couple of weeks, as well as a smaller, round-table long-form study in the Church Office that rotates every 8 to 10 weeks.
- Life Groups are small to medium-sized community groups that meet together on a regular basis to share life together and study together. We encourage everyone to be a part of one! Life Studies are weekly topical studies for anyone interested in learning more and meeting new people at the church – it’s a great entry point to joining a Life Group or just learning a little bit more about and deepening faith.
Women’s Bible Study
Women’s Bible Study on Tuesday evenings and Wednesday mornings September through May. Women’s Bible Study is on Tuesday, evenings which starts at 6:30pm and ends promptly at 8:30pm. The Wednesday morning study starts at 9:30am and ends at 11:30am. For more information, please contact Janet Tangen, Trisch Johnson, Joyce Thurman, or Sue Berry.
Opportunities for Children
Enter the Bible Adventure Zone if you are 3 years old to 5th grade. We start every Sunday at 9:15 in the Fireside Room with singing, prayer and God sightings. Then we go to our rooms where you might find the preschoolers interacting with puppets who tell a Bible story or the Kindergartners to 2nd graders making a playdough tomb with a rollaway stone or the 3rd to 5th graders acting out the calming of the storm. At the end we meet at the fireplace to recap our adventure with the Bible Point ball and pray for our week to come. Parents sign us out and pick us up at 10:15. We hope you can join us! To register, fill out this form and return it to the church office.
Are you interesting in serving? A background check is required for every volunteer, so please fill out the W.A.T.C.H. form and return it to the church office.
Allison Hays and Jenna Truax invite your children (ages 5 and up) to be a part of Maple Park’s Childrens Choir. The Choir meets to learn and practice songs Sunday mornings after the worship service and will share their songs with the church several times a year.
Kids Night meets Wednesdays from 6:30pm to 8:00pm (September to May) and is for children in grades 1st through 5th. It is a fun, high energy time full of learning, laughter, and looking to God as our Creator, Savior and helper for life through singing, engaging Bible study with dramatic acting and costumes, Bible memorizaiton, and games.

Opportunities to serve
Community Family Support
On the second Sunday of each month, families bring grocery bags of food and household items to support children and families at a community school. You can pick up empty grocery bags and a list of suggested items at the Community Family Support table in the foyer. Cash/Check gifts also accepted. Please note “Community Family Support” on checks or cash envelopes.
Holiday Food Baskets
Each year, Maple Park provides baskets of food and Christmas gifts to our shut-ins and families in need. We also help community members referred by our members. This project involves many hours of volunteer time and is a wonderful way to involve the congregation in helping people. It takes about 100 people (of all ages) to pack up the baskets and distribute them.
Maple Park Quilters provides premie quilts to the nursery at University Medical Center in Seattle which distributes them at the average rate of two per week/100 per year. To date, we still have 70 to make before the end of the year. We can reach this goal with many helping hands and the blessings of our heavenly Father. Kits are available on Sunday mornings in the back of the fellowship hall. Workparties meet weekly on Wednesday evening for two hours at Julee Kolman’s home. Questions? Call Rebekah Karlen, 206-353-5240 or Julee Kolman, 425-742-4126. Soft fabric donations are always welcome.
Stephen Ministry provides one-on-one care to those in need. We serve as a confidential ear; walking along side a person experiencing personal troubles, making sure those who are hurting know they can safely share their pain with someone who cares. To request a Stephen Minister for yourself or someone you love, please contact us.
